In 2023, 1604 fires destroyed 117,553 acres of land throughout Montana.
Reducing forest density and thinning tree canopies to prevent fires from leaping across treetops can significantly mitigate the intensity and spread of wildfires and help keep our homes and loved ones safe. So, why don’t more people do it?

We think the answer is simple. Most people do not have the experience to do the work themselves and, when they try to hire a professional, they hit roadblock after roadblock. The cost is prohibitively expensive, no one can get them on the schedule for one to two years, or their project is simply “too small” for the contractor to consider.

We had several trees that needed to be removed to make our forested area healthier and help protect our home from fire risk. The Cords for Care team came in and thinned. They didn't overdo it. You could tell they really cared about the land. We feel safer in fire season now and love that the trees they removed are helping others in our community keep warm this winter.
